Breezefeather lifted her slender head and strared at the source of the noise.
Holy Mousedung! she thought, awed. Before her stood a tree. Of course, everyone had seen this tree before, but not like this. The last storm had been pretty violent. Lightning and flooding. But everyone had survived okay.
Well, not everyone, Breezefeather conceded, looking at the charred remains of the giant willow and the skelotons that littered the blunt limbs.
Shaking her head and forcing her paws to move, Breezefeather padded past the willow, silent and respectful. Although the leader needed to be told, Breezefeather was on a mission.
Mousestep was hungry.
The pregant queen had woken her sister up with a vengence, and declared her hunger to the whole world. Naturally, the twin had to go and hunt for her. She looked behind her, and made sure that her companions weren't dead. Yep, still there she thought, as she spied them all still looking at the tree, some with awe, fear, and others with interest.
Whiteflame surveyed the the willow, and smiled. Nature was at work, and sometimes it's work was fearful.
She glanced over at the other cats with her, and nearly laughed. Breezefeather was looking rather agitated. And no wonder! Mousestep was enough to drive even Starcan crazy!.
Whiteflame sighed mentally, and silently expressed her sympathies. But, she thought as she looked at the others with them, life goes on, and right now, life required that they go hunting and feed the clan.
"Okay, guys, enough. We're on a hunting patrol. When we return, we'll let Cherrystar know. And then you can admire to you heart's content."
