The Relationship Board
IF YOU ALREADY KNOW HOW TO CREATE RELATIONSHIP THREADS THEN YOU DO NOT NEED TO READ THIS.
There has been a new board added called the Relationships board. The purpose of this board is so that you can plan out whom your character is friends with, who their enemies are, who they’re related to, and who they have a crush on. Before leaping into a relationship (called a ship for short, lol, old Mugglenet joke in the days of the shipping wars) with someone or declaring yourself a member of their family, please ask permission by posting on either their thread or having them post on yours. Then you can either plot out what you are going to do in the “Plots and Plans, Thoughts and Schemes” board, or can discuss it through PM or you can just go ahead and role play it impromptu and see what happens.
How to write your thread
1. Thread title. First of all, give your thread a catchy or attention-grabbing title, rather then just your character’s name. For example, instead of writing Lightingstar of Riverclanwrite something to the effect of Master of the Rivers.
2. Categories. On your thread, you will be writing at least three categories. One titles “Friends”, another called “Enemies”, and the another one called “Lovers”. You may change the names of the categories if you wish, but you must have those four general ideas. You may also add categories of your own if you wish to do so.
3. The verses. Many people will write a phrase or sentence about how their character feels about a certain relationship. For example, they may feel trusting enough to their closest friends to entrust the key to that which they hold most dear. Or perhaps they hate their worse enemies so much that they wish they would die. Whatever the case, please write up a phrase from the character’s perspective on each relationship which they choose to offer. Next to your phrase, please put which relationship it is, for example, (best friend) or (crush on her)…etc… If you are having trouble understanding this, then look at the thread which I posted for Peregrine. If you still are having trouble, then PM me. No copying of each other’s phrases, please. When a relationship which only requires one person to fill it, strike it out (for example once "True Love" has been requested, then put a line threw it. if someone has requested "Aquaintence", don't strike it through, as you can have more then one aquaintence).
4. Other. If you need to post something else on the thread such as “she really likes macho guys” or “no-one-liner’s, please” or “If it is a romantic relationship I will not go beyond kissing” then please do so.
5.The form. In order for someone to request a relationship with your character, you must provide a form for them. For example, you might write:
Character Name:
Character Age:
Your Age:
Relationship desired:
Reason Why:
IC Thoughts:
200x200 avatar of character:
Character Age:
Your Age:
Relationship desired:
Reason Why:
IC Thoughts:
200x200 avatar of character:
When posting on someone else's relationship thread, be sure to have your own for them to post on in turn.
6. Accepting. Once a request has been made, please either write “accepted” or “declined” or something along those lines. Then. Either mark a list of your character’s friends, foes, family, and lovers with the characters listed there. If a position foe which only a few people are needed, for instance “true love” the please cross out that position so it does no get reapplied for. If you have requested a relationship with another character, then please wait for that player to respond before going ahead with it in RP. If someone posts on yours, then it is considered polite to post on theirs, so please do so.
7. Make it flashy. One of the fun aspects of doing relationship threads is to decorate it. You might make your categories different colors or make them to the right or left of your thread. You might pepper they thread with pictures of your character.
8 . What next:? So now that you have either accepted a relationship or been accepted, now what do you do? Next you can either go to the “Plots and Schemes” board and begin to plan out in more detail what you will do, or you can PM each other a plan so no one else will now what happens in advance. Or you can just start to RP without a plan; it’s all up to you.
Remember: This is a standard procedure on many RPG sites. This is not just some weird thing which I have made up, so please, learn it for your own benefit and that you know what to do when it comes to other sites you may join in the future. Remember to read Lightningstar’s thread if you have questions before PMing me if you need to.
Not: Do no PM me if you can’t think of any verses to write, I am not going to write them for you.
Thank you and have fun.
