Overall Personality ∙ He's an ambititious one, that Thunderstorm is. Ever since he was a kit, he's been wanting more and more, to be better than he is. As such, he has a tendency to push himself constantly, his quest to improve never ending. He's also a habit of pushing others, usually beyond where they want to go. It's not out of hate or anything like that, however; in his way, it's showing that he cares enough about the cats to want to help them improve.
Thunderstorm is also a believer of strong bonds between his fellow clanmates. Never will you not see him sharing tongues at the mid-day rest, and he speaks with every one of his clan members daily, if only to say hello and remark on the weather. Growing among his fellow cats and watching them grow has instilled a fierce sense of loyalty and protection toward them all. He wouled lay his life on the line if it would keep the cats of his clan safe, and would gladly sacrifice his own needs for those of others. Frequently he doesn't eat if there isn't enough to feed all: instead, he ends up heading out to see what he can find himself, often dragging along one or two other clanmates as well.
As the above can tell you, yes, Thunderstorm cares about his clan. He's a loyal cat, and though he sometimes views his leader with envy, he'd die for the tom. For that matter, he'd die for his clan. He's not particularily keen on the thought of dying, at least not before he's become leader, but it doesn't bother him. Being a warrior, it's an accepted fact that you might die before your time. And that's what medicine cats are for, anyways.
When Thunderstorm was first born, all he wanted to do was get his warrior name and fight along side with all the greats: Firelily, Fernflower, Snowfeather, Beechfur. He wanted to serve his clan and be the best he could, even become the strongest warrior of the whole four clans if he had to. From an early age, this was a key componant to his character, and it was constantly drving him to go, go, go, and succeed. Tenacious determination coupled with this steadfast dream made for a very willful and pro-active tom, and even today, though his venues are tempered with wisdoms gained from moons, he is still very much a believer of doing.
The one place Thunderstorm never wishes to take his clanmates is into a battle. A battle where they fight, where they get hurt, maimed, crippled, killed. Where their lives could change in a second, where he can't do anything to protect them. Granted, they're grown warriors in charge of their own lives, but the urge to protect and guide his clan the best he can leaves Thunderstorm despising conflict between clans. As such, Thunderstorm is usually seen as the goody-two-shoes of the deputies - for all that he's ambitious - always striving to negotiate peace or at least truces. Violence is not the answer, at least not in his view. It's really too bad that all the cats of the clans can't see it his way, either.
Additional Tidbits ∙ He's temporary; when someone else comes along that wants the position (and I think they can handle it) I'll kill him off ^_^
Also, anyone want to play his family, feel free to send me a PM, and we'll talk ^_^Reflection
Overall Appearance ∙ Being a tom cat, Thunderstar is, as tom cats generally are, quite large. Really, he is. His build, while not bulky, is there. He's just one lump of hardened muscle, having spent his youth as a warrior and having never really gotten out of the habit of training.
His limbs, however, are actually quite graceful; his legs in particular are long and far-reaching, enabling him to move at a fairly fast, ground-eating pace. His tail is somewhat short, but he's totally okay with that - less to be grabbed, should it come to a fight.
As far as his face goes, Thunderstorm has a somewhat delicate structure, which is at odds with his gruff demeanor. His nose is ginger-pink, and his whiskers are long and white; his ears are trim and neatly put together, giving him a somewhat 'proper' look.
Pelt-wise, Thunderstar is a sleek gray mackeral tabby, his body solid gray with faint, slightly darker gray tabby markings on his body. His fur is short and bristly, though in winter it grows out a bit and can actually fluff out a little.Backstory
Family History ∙ opt out
Family ∙ Father: Jumpflight
Mother: Ashwing
Brother: Hardfang
Sister: Brindleheart
Birthplace ∙ Skyclan Nursery, Skyclan camp, Skyclan territory
Background ∙ Born to a Skyclan pair, Jumpflight and Ashwing, Thunderstorm was the middle of three kits. As a kit in the nursery, he was fond of listening to the stories the elders told. He looked up to his father, and he admired the leader of the clan. At some point just before his apprenticehood, he decided that he would become a leader of the clan.
As an apprentice, he really wasn't anything special, something that actually rankled at him. This caused him to constantly strive to improve and be better than everyone else, and though he didn't have a natural aptitude for some things, such as stalking, through sheer will and want, he become more than adequate in all aspects of his life.
His warrior ceremony was not anything real special, either. He was an apprentice one moment, the next, he was a warrior. All there was to it. Being a warrior wasn't much different from being an apprentice, barring the fact that you had a warrior name, you slept in a different den, and you could boss around the apprentices and they'd have to listen.
The real change came when Thunderstorm got his first apprentice. He trained her long and hard, had a few issues, and finally, before the two managed to kill each other, she earner her warrior name and he was no longer responsible for her.
A while later, the old leader retired, and Thunderstorm was chosen as the new deputy of the clan, succeeding Owlstar in his stead. It was also around this time that Thunderstorm took a mate, Seafeather. She's still expecting kits, but they should be born soon.Sample
It was the night of the gathering, so, of course the blazing form of Thunderstorm could be seen padding from the Skyclan side of the lands and into the hollow where the six clans met. He had a retinue of warriors, apprentices, and elders with him, and at his signal, the clan temporarily dispersed and went their opposite ways, going to meet up with their peers and friends, to talk and brag.
The apprentices had no doubt been told by their mentors to spy, and watch and learn from all that they see - Thunderstorm himself had remembered being told that, and as a warrior he had told his apprentices something to that effect. In fact, the first time that he'd taken his latest apprentice, Rapidpaw, to a gathering, (the previous one, in fact) he'd told the young tom to keep a watch on everything that occurs, to learn about those around him, and to commit to memory anything that they gave away about themselves, others, or their clan.
Thunderclan and Shadowclan were already there, which meant that the clans would have to wait for Windclan, Riverclan, and Bloodclan to arrive before beginning the gathering. This rankled at the tabby deputy. He'd never been one for large crowds, either, and once again, he'd been forced to participate in large groups courtesy of his rank within his clan. It was a little easier being deputy, because he had only to be right beside the leaders and deputies, but it wasn't much. There were still all these cats in the gathering, and they'd all eventually stare up at him. And meanwhile, he was probably going to have to fulfill his social obligation and greet his fellow deputies.
"Wolfsong," the tom said in greeting, and nodded regally. "How runs the prey?" Innocuous enough questions, Thunderstorm thought.Contract
