The sun was at its highest point when the young apprentice awoke. He immediately felt guilty for sleeping in so late. He hadn’t gotten much sleep the last few nights, but that was no longer a factor. He slowly stood. He arched his back and moved his front paws forward, stretching out his back. He yawned in satisfaction, but then remembered the time of day. He quickly padded out of the apprentice den over to the fresh kill pile. There wasn’t much there, but his stomach was growling of hunger. He grabbed a small, yet plump vole and went into a nice sunny patch of ground. He laid down and began to eat his brunch.

Sandypelt licked her paw, and swiped it instinctively over her pointed ear in the shade of a tree. The camp burst in chaos. Two hunting patrols were being formed. A few cats were grooming each other by the warrior den. She padded over to the fresh-kill pile, having done dawn patrol and serving her duty for now, and selected a robin. She plucked the feathers from it gingerly. She let her gaze sweep the clearing, and saw Yodapaw. She decided to visit.
"Hello, Yodapaw," she said warmly, nibbling on her prey. "How are you enjoying apprenticeship under Talonwind?"

Yodapaw looked up at the warrior. He stumbled at remembering he name. Then it came to him, Sandypelt. He hadn't talked to her before, but he had heard she was nice. Chewy had spent some time with her, bragging about it to him. He thought about his apprentice lessons with Talonwond. They were fun and eventful. “I love having Talonwind as my mentor,” he meowed. “He is very wise and he knows what he is doing,” Yoda added. He took a deep breath, and then took another bite of his vole. “How are you?” he asked the warrior.

Sandypelt listened. "Glad to hear that," she said. "I am fine, thank you for asking. And I hope you are well?" she questioned, smiling. She looked over his shoulder and saw two warriors and their apprentices. They were laughing and talking as the head out of camp. 'To go training,' she guessed, and turned back to Yodapaw. "Yes, though mentor more seem annoyed, I am here to tell you, most warriors would give a lot to have an apprentice," she told him, remembering how excited she had been the first day she had trained Spottedpaw.

Yodapaw smiled. “I am glad you are well, I am also well. In fact, a bit better than well. I am happy for once,” he mowed. He had been zoned for the last few months, feeling nothing. He hadn’t until he met Talonwind, his new mentor. He smiled at his name. Talonwind was nice and a great mentor. He seemed to like training Yodapaw and Yodapaw like being trained. “I hope Talonwind feels that way,” he commented. “Did you feel that way when you began to train Spottedpaw?” he asked. He wanted her to say yes, because he reminded him of Talonwind.
